Recap of 2/9 Meeting at the BAC
- Establishment of Team Name:
S - Sustainably
O- Orientated
D- Design
A- Associates
Whether we stick with this exact wording or not, there was consensus that it is what we will go with for now.
The responsibility for the 2 remaining required team elements were allocated:
Kim and Mikkel are going to handle sketching up 3-6 iterations of the logo and subsequent business card design.
Nik and Seth are going to develop a list of key/buzz words that will be incorporated in fleshing out a team mission statement to steer our design approach.
Some Topics to Begin Guiding our Research:
History of Cape Cod / Regional (local ) Context
- Building Materials and Design
- People

- Etc
- Water Reclimation and/or Processing

Evolving List of Uncertainties / Questions
- When is project due?
- What are the other important dates?
- When is the first site visit?
- How can we learn more about the client / family?
- What form will the final document take?
- What are the responsibilities, in terms of deliverables, for the waste management aspect of the project?
- How can we begin collaborating with the "Water People"?
- How does the Curio House integrate into the site?
- How established is this community?
- We need to start keeping track of hours spent each week working on the project which will be submitted to Nik. Agreement was on targeting 15-20 hours/week.
- There should be at least an acknowledgment of group emails ASAP, if nothing more then a confirmation of receipt.
- We should begin to assemble dossiers of:
- Successful / Inspiring Designs
- Architects that impress us
- Appropriate Precedents & Case Studies
- Sustainable Approaches
So apparently I can only grant admin privledges once you are an author, Mikkel you should be all set now.
ReplyDeleteKim and Nik I will include you once you are on so don't be worried if you can't edit the design right away
GREAT JOB SETH A+....And great meeting last night...This is going to be a fruitfull experience (just trust and believe in your passions for this and the pieces will fall in place)
ReplyDeleteI will have a version of the mission statement this afternoon. We are being dismissed at 12pm because of the snow storm..yippppeeee!
sustainably..orientated..development..approach
ReplyDeletedesigns
just an idea...the repeated design thing (while only evident to us) still bothers me a little (but not much)
also lets get rid of the demographics info. and just go with the community green opening page...i think it takes up too much space
ReplyDeletealso my new name is Dr. Pepper...get it..cause of the soda...
ReplyDeleteor associates is replaced by approach and we can be SODA assoc.? Oh yeah I am supposed to be working on the mission statement
ReplyDeletesorry i am super a-d-d in the morning...when i get that coffee in me i run around all hyped up and then usually need a nap by lunch time...i will try to pace myself so i am more available during our meetings
ReplyDeleteI have not seen a post since my verbal diarrhea...Did I scare everyone away?
ReplyDeleteI think we have good ammo for tonight but we are missing a final activity for the community members to flush out some ideas or to get a sense of them...anyone...bueller...
I think for the exercises we need to try and get something visual from the group, but also should focus on vocabulary as a really clear method of understanding their desires. I am going to continue to look into some group exercises, so I'll add to the post later. I kind of like the idea of House pictionary. Then we could do an exercise where we just brainstorm words with the for certain elements of the design.
